Regionah Energie is a green energy provider from southern Germany, passionately committed to a citizen-driven energy transition. The company focuses on local generation, personal engagement with customers and a strong regional identity.
Initial Situation
The Regionah team asked themselves the following questions: If renewable energy is generated locally, why shouldn’t it also be consumed locally? Why should it be sold anonymously on the electricity exchange instead of in a marketplace where the local community comes together? Why invest in unnecessary and costly grid expansion when the energy could be consumed locally? How can we implement our ideas without major restructuring and upfront investments?
Goal
Regionah's goal was to shape the decentralized energy transition in a personal way while promoting its own region. Instead of selling locally generated green electricity anonymously on the electricity exchange, it should be consumed directly within the region.
Lösung
Lumenaza provides Regionah with its fully digital Energy-as-a-Service platform as a white-label solution.
The scalable, modular cloud platform connects producers and consumers within the Regionah prosumer community. The platform enables Regionah to integrate new green energy products into its existing offering in record time. For example, it serves as the foundation for smart tariffs such as a heating electricity tariff and an e-mobility tariff, which were introduced in November 2018 and March 2021, respectively, in addition to household electricity with a clear origin. Regionah started all of this with just two employees who could focus on building and maintaining the customer base and brand.
For producers in the Regionah community, Lumenaza, together with Regionah, developed an online contract signing process in 2020, a first in Germany. Selling self-generated electricity is highly complex from a regulatory perspective. At Regionah, feeding surplus energy into the grid becomes effortless.

In the Regionah prosumer community, private producers and businesses can earn more for their green electricity than the legally mandated feed-in tariff, as they benefit from a slightly higher compensation rate through aggregation. At the same time, they can access affordable, green residual electricity from the community, and consumers can trust the origin of their power.
Green energy and e-mobility are made simple and convenient for community members. Every member contributes to the success of renewable energy and plays a vital role in ecology and sustainability. This is particularly evident with the Regionah Strom Plus offering, which combines the green electricity tariff with funding for sustainability projects in the region.
Regionah continuously strengthens its community. Recently, it introduced the RegioMacher initiative, featuring local businesses within the Regionah community. RegioMacher are commercial customers who represent regional identity, stand out through local products and services, use renewable energy, and embrace innovative, forward-thinking solutions.
